Sketch-presentation of the project of adaptation of a residential area in the central part of the city of Izium

Vision of the project

The project was aimed at the sustainable development and adaptation of a separate district of Izium, Kharkiv region, to climate, social, and cultural changes. The goal of the project was to create a concept of a residential area that took into account all the factors that led to the need to rethink living spaces for their effective functioning and communication with nature and humans. The project included research, design, educational, and presentation parts.

The research part involved studying archival data, social, cultural, and climatic features of the project object/residential area and district, conducting a comparative analysis with existing similar projects, and developing conclusions, conditions, and recommendations before starting to develop a conceptual solution. The design part focused on creating a concept for the adaptation of a residential area with the involvement of architects, artists, environmentalists, community representatives, and other stakeholders to achieve effective synergy and a unique result.

The educational part included an online webinar with a specialist in environmental assessment, green hydrogen energy, and the design of similar neighborhoods from Germany. The presentation part consisted of a sketch of the project for the adaptation of an existing neighborhood in Kharkiv or the Kharkiv region, as well as a spectacular presentation of the project developed by the architects of Portal-21, alongside a presentation of the project to the community.

The project was designed to become an influential tool and basis for attracting public attention to the need for such adaptations of living spaces and further investments in them for the next stages of design and implementation.
