Vision of the project

The Transnational Artistic Showcase “Reimagining Realities” was an interdisciplinary collaboration project that brought together artists from Tabačka Kulturfabrik in Slovakia and Carbon Art Residency in Ukraine. The primary goal was to explore themes such as perceptions, wartime experiences, climate change, and the impact of propaganda on memory and societal mindset through artistic creation. This collaboration aimed to foster transnational relationships and display artworks centered around the theme of 'Reimagining Realities' across various Creative Europe countries.

Objectives:

  • Cultural Exchange: The project encouraged collaboration among artists from diverse backgrounds.
  • Artistic Exploration: It investigated themes of wartime experiences, climate change, resistance, and the impact of propaganda on societal perceptions, equipping artists with the skills to internationalize their outlook and develop projects aligned with European standards.
  • Community Engagement: The project engaged the wider community through public presentations and exhibitions.
  • Revitalization: It contributed to the revival and transformation of the village of Smolník in Slovakia through artistic interventions and shared insights applicable to revitalizing communities in Ukraine.

Meet the Key Partner

The cultural centre Tabačka Kulturfabrik was opened in 2009. In May 2015, the space underwent extensive renovation and modernisation. Tabačka Kulturfabrik is an unmissable point of live culture in the city and the region, a place of meeting, collaboration and inspiration.

Its most important activities include the creation, operation and regular programming of Tabačka Kulturfabrik, a cultural centre focused on culture and contemporary art, community development, informal education, critical thinking, open society and tolerance. The non-profit organization has become a solid base, a functional tool and a guarantor of a free and tolerant attitude during its existence.
