La Guarimba International Film Festival

La Guarimba is a social innovation project and a non-profit organization based in Calabria, Southern Italy. Our mission is: bring cinema back to the people and the people back to the cinema. Founded in 2013, we work mainly in suburban areas and difficult contexts, where we organize cultural events with high social impact and non-formal training paths. We use a participatory approach to engage our audiences and create multicultural and intergenerational communities.

Our main projects are La Guarimba International Film Festival, an event dedicated to short films from all over the world (11 editions), Kino Guarimba, a film residency for international artists (8 editions), La Grotta dei Piccoli, an animation film festival for children and kids that includes creativity workshops in schools (8 editions), and Il Terrenito, an open cultural space in Amantea where we organize cultural events with the participation of local associations.
