Revival of folk crafts for the development of ecological communities, communities and IDPs

Vision of the project

A training course in seven traditional Ukrainian crafts was designed to equip 56 representatives of ecological communities and the internally displaced persons (IDPs) they sheltered with the skills needed to open their own handicraft workshops. The course aimed to promote the financial sustainability of both ecological and local communities by empowering participants to preserve cultural heritage while creating economic opportunities.

Meet the Key Partner

The NGO Global Network of Ecovillages of Ukraine (founded in 2018) unites ecological communities and initiatives throughout Ukraine, promotes sustainable development goals and European integration, and works for the environmental, social and cultural future of Ukraine. It has a network of about 60 communities. It cooperates with international organizations and donors. It organizes conferences, tours, cultural and educational exchanges. Since the beginning of the war, together with its European partners (GEN Europe), it has created a network of shelters for IDPs, coordinates the Green Road of Ecovillages project, raises funds and redirects them to the needs of the established shelters.
