Kino Guarimba Film Residency - Rebuilding Ukrainian Cultural Sector

Vision of the project

Kino Guarimba was a collaborative residency program for international filmmakers in Calabria, Southern Italy. The topic of this edition was “Rebuilding Ukrainian Cultural Sector.”

The program provided scholarships to 10 Ukrainian women directors. It aimed to support Ukrainian filmmakers by fostering creative exchange, skill development, and cultural exploration. The residency facilitated the production of short films in a Southern Italian town, actively involving local communities. It also offered networking opportunities and enhanced international visibility for the films produced.

In partnership with the Ukrainian cultural organisation "AmaTea," events and debates centered around the project's theme were organised, inviting Ukrainian artists and producers. These events engaged the residency participants, as well as local cultural operators and authorities.

ThThe works created by Ukrainian filmmakers will be showcased during a special screening organized in Málaga, Spain, organized by the international partners of ArteNativa. Furthermore, the films were distributed globally, supporting Ukrainian cinema on an international scale.

Through this project, the operations of Ukrainian cultural organisations such as AmaTea and Kherson Film School were also promoted in two Media Europe countries, Italy and Spain, activating networking processes and discussions on the theme of rebuilding.
