Municipal cultural institution Dnipro City Youth Theatre "Virymo" (We believe) of the Dnipro City Council "Virymo" is an author's theatre that grew out of the drama studio led by director and teacher Volodymyr Petrenko. The troupe of the theatre consists of former students of Volodymyr Petrenko. The repertoire of "Virymo" consists of performances staged by Volodymyr Petrenko, and young directors grew up in the theatre.
"Virymo" is a brave theatre that deliberately refused to replicate its achievements and successes. The theatre does not use developed techniques and experience in new performances. In recent works, the creators want to reach orchestration of the deep sense and intense performative form. Each new show is the search for new performative language and new ways of communication with the visitors.
"Virymo" is the repertory theatre. We have been working to create the performance and collected 16 shows for big and small stages. These performances can delight and surprise viewers without any provocations.
"Virymo" (We believe) is not the only name of the theatre. It is our Statute and Constitution. Our authors are geniuses; we can solve any art task, and our visitors search in the theatre for severe conversation. We should stage stories that make people more robust and better.
"Virymo" is one of the most demanded theatres in Eastern Ukraine, where the war is in full force.
“The White Disease”: the fantastic realism of one wartime
The project goal is to contribute to the creation of a high image of Ukrainian performative art and to promote actual Ukrainian senses and values through showcasing the dramatic performance "The White Disease" by Karel Čapek in Europe.“The White Disease”: the fantastic realism of one wartime
The project aims to start an open and broad cultural dialogue in Ukrainian society. K. Čapek's fantastic play, written in 1937, goes beyond the dystopian genre and acquires the features of realism, due to the full consonance of the plot and ideological context with the events that the world has experienced in the last few years: the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
